We Are Whosoever

Pastor's Message for the week of January 8, 2012

Greetings, Sisters and Brothers! This new year is moving right along. This week we have had chilly winter and warmer spring weather... can snow be far behind!!! I hope these new days are finding you moving forward to higher and better things and choices.

I have a Max Lucado devotion book called Grace for the Moment. In its preface, he lists some of his choices. I believe these would be good ones for all of us:

I choose love........... I choose joy........... I choose peace...........
I choose patience........... I choose kindness........... I choose goodness...........
I choose faithfulness........... I choose gentleness.......... I choose self-control..........

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. To these I commit my day. If I succeed I will give thanks. If I fail, I will seek his grace. And then when this day is done, I will place my head on my pillow and rest.

I believe it would serve God and us all well if we could follow Max's words.

Blessings and peace,
Rev. Catherine[older messages]

Welcome...

Catherine Houchins

I am Rev. Catherine Houchins, pastor of Metropolitan Community Church of Charlotte. I am blessed to be serving this community of faith. I came as an interim pastor and they decided to keep me. If you come to visit, you, too, may decide to stay. You will find a place to heal, grow, serve, give, receive, be blessed and be a blessing.

When you come to MCC Charlotte you will experience a worship service probably not like the one in which you "grew up." Our service encompasses several worship styles and is lead by a variety of people. You will be offered communion every week. And you will be greeted by many loving people. This is a church open to all people. Most of our folks are members of the lgbt community but we have non-gay allies who worship with us and are members of our church.

Jesus opened his community of followers to all who would come. He said "whosoever" and we take that to be the inclusive invitation we believe Jesus meant it to be.

What is MCCC?

Metropolitan Community Church of Charlotte is a member congregation of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, an exciting grassroots Christian movement, born on the principle that God loves everyone... welcoming people from all walks of life and orientations... [more]
